I took my 18 year old cat to the Cherry Hinton Road vet in Cambridge. She was showing signs of incontinence and not grooming, but was eating and behaving normally. They diagnosed arthritis and recommended monthly injections - at £140 a visit (I don't have pet insurance). As I live alone and am no longer allowed to drive due to ill health, it was always a problem finding someone to help me get her into the pet carrier and then to the surgery. Her incontinence got worse. When I took her for her 4th injection, she reacted very badly on being handled by the vet - hissing, meowing, scratching and biting. I was shocked by this out-of-character behaviour. The vet took her into a sideroom to examine her. I was then told she showed no signs of pain, but was given an injection. A further £140. When I got the cat home, she was very confused. She hid in the conservatory and was refusing to eat or drink. She was extremely distressed. I contacted the surgery and asked if I could drop her off to have her put out of her (and mine) misery. I was told I'd have to make an appointment which, due to the difficulties, I couldn't do. In the end, I had to call out a mobile vet. It was obvious to me that she had feline dementia, yet the vet failed to diagnose it, saying I've never seen a cat react like that. My mother had dementia and her behaviour was very similar, except she swore and shouted instead of hissing and meowing. I've decided not to get another cat, but if I change my mind, I'll never take her to this surgery. They were quite happy to take my money, but I feel they failed in their duty of care. Oh, and the vet was a partner, not an inexperienced person.

They are part of Independent Vetcare Ltd., the vets are pretty good and everyone is very friendly. However, do remember to double check how much things are going to cost, there is zero transparency; nothing on their web site and some of the charges come as a bit of a surprise.

Absolutely amazing vet's. Great care, understanding staff, even with a highly strung reactive senior cat like my rescue girl. I've been taking my cat there from 2021, and they've dealt with everything; from nail trims and vaccinations to dentistry and investigating potentially serious illnesses, with aplomb.

I’ve been with Cambridge Veterinary Group for 3 years now and they have always been fantastic. The receptionists are very friendly and it’s clear they get to you as soon as they can while juggling phone calls and people in-person. I recently spoke to a receptionist named Lisa who was so kind and empathetic over the phone when I was clearly worrying about my dog. The vets themselves are always kind and courteous, reassuring my dog when it’s clear she’s not a fan of being on the examination table. I’ve always felt listened to and have had my options explained to me clearly. While I don’t think I’ve met many of the nurses, those I have seen have also been kind, clear and efficient. I will say that sometimes I find myself in the waiting room a little longer than I expect, but it’s a small price to pay knowing that someone else’s pet is also being well cared for. I’ve never felt rushed in any consultation, which I very much appreciate. An additional bonus is that the Cambridge Veterinary Group syncs up seamlessly with the Pet Health Club, which offers all sorts of discounts. I know my dog is in safe hands with this practice.

We visited the practice for the first time, bringing along our tortoise! The practice is easy to find, lots of off road parking. Nice clean reception area. The consultation was excellent, the vet was very knowledgeable, and provided us with lots of good advice regarding diet and living conditions. She also kindly gave our tortoise a trim of her claws! Would highly recommend, and be happy to return in the future.
